Our next assignment from Kelly: a reflection in water. I tried to draw a moonscape, not very successfully, I admit!

The next assignment: a human shape that started off as a stick figure
This was quite challenging, to say the least, for me. I'm still learning to draw properly!

Our second week assignment: a lightbulb
I battled with this one! It is a very technical precise object, with a shape that has equal sides, and lots of straight lines ... difficult!
This is what I came up with, not my favourite I have to say!

Last day of the challenge:
I had so many problems in figuring out how to get the collage on the blog.
Finally just grouped all the photo's together and took a screen shot!
This has been an amazing experience, thank you Kelly!
I would like to stay connected to your blog, if I may ...

Day 30:  finishing drawing of own face
The final day! I cannot believe 30 days have gone by ... it has been the most
amazing time of learning for me. Thank you, Kelly! For teaching us to stretch
the muscles of the brain, to cross that barrier of trying something new, never
done before, thank you again, Kelly. Even to the point of making a self-
portrait. Having said that: I am so done with looking at my own face, though.
So here is the final version of mine

Day 29:  Drawing of own face.
This is torture!! Studying Albert's face was very interesting, I could concentrate,
and do it, like solving a mathematical problem. When it came to my own face, I
was acutely (painfully) aware of all the imperfections, and because of the
emotional involvement it was very difficult to make a drawing. This is as far as I
could go today

                                               Day 28:  complete Albert
During the last 2 days of the challenge I reached a major milestone
in my mind. I never thought it possible for me to draw a face, let alone a famous one, and make
it recognizable! I never thought I could draw a face. So Albert, we have reached the end of the
road, but it was a huge pleasure to look at your face for 2 nights in a row! I know there is a lot
to learn, and I am looking forward to stretching some more brain muscles

Day 27:  drawing of Albert's face over 2 days.( I don't think 2 years will be enough for me to do this, Kelly!) Well, into the unknown I ventured, armed with black powder, a toothpick and my trusty feather ...  so here is Albert halfway through.

Day 25:   Another tree drawing with non-dominant hand,
using fingers, business card and tools.
I made a drawing of this tree mainly using the
business card, and a little sponge to clean up the lines.

Saturday, 24 January 2015

Day 24:   Drawing of a tree, with non-dominant hand,
using hand and business card only.
Here is my very basic palm tree

Day 22:  drawing of a safety pin
This is an exercise in creating straight lines, shadows
and texture, and a lot of patience is needed.
I used the business card, toothpick and
feather again

Day 20: drawing of a flower
The activities of the working world caused me to lose a few days again, but here is my flower,
a very elementary cherry blossom. Every drawing is a learning experience, and it is so enjoyable
to create!

Day 18:  another white object
Today I tried to draw my little white milk jug. I feel better about this one,
but there is a very long way ahead of me (technique etc etc) before I will
feel OK about making a picture of something white using only black powder!

Day 17: another white object
Still trying to figure out the shading. Lack of drawing experience very obvious!!
Used business card, feather and toothpick.

Friday, 16 January 2015

Day 16: white object
I chose a simple bottle shape to figure out shading and how to manipulate light.
Oh my goodness, I have a lot to learn! (Used my business card and feather again)

Monday, 12 January 2015

Day 12: Drawing of something used every day.
I made a drawing of my favourite piece of jewellery: a mother-of-pearl shell with silver wirework and little gemstones. (It looks much better in real life!)

Sunday, 11 January 2015

Day 11: Drawing of vegetable (with texture)
I chose an onion, I like the round shape. Due to extreme inexperience in drawing, this is about the best texture I could manage! Again business card and feather.

Saturday, 10 January 2015

Day 10: drawing of fruit in a setting
I tried drawing grapes today, hard when you have 10 thumbs! Add to that trying to translate perspective into powder ... I used a little feather to create shading, and added a glass for a setting.

Friday, 9 January 2015

Day 9: drawing of a fruit.
I only had a nice red pepper in the house, so it will have to be a fruit today!
I only used fingers and the business card (still learning to draw!)

Thursday, 8 January 2015

Day 8:  Making a drawing, using another tool.
I am practising drawing lines, so I mostly used the business card in creating this very scraggly looking tree. I also added some texture in the leaves with an eraser on the end of a pencil.
I am amazed at the what can be used in creating a powder picture ... am definitely looking with new eyes at things lying around in the house!

Wednesday, 7 January 2015

Day 7: Using a tool: I used a toothpick.
I drew the design with the toothpick in the powder and then made the
toothpick lines solid powder lines. (I'm basically still learning to draw here!)

Monday, 5 January 2015

Day 5: another lot of 5 min drawings ... not very successful at this I'm afraid!
